Chapter Five

“How are you holding up?” Ben asked, following Sean out of the warehouse. Inside he was sick to his stomach at the plan he’d just come up with.

“I’m fine.”

“You’ve just made a deal to kill your father. I’m by your side, but I know you’re not just fine.”

“How do you feel about killing your father?” Sean asked, turning to look at his mate.

“I’m not keen on it, but I don’t see a point in pretending they can be changed. They’re going to kill everything that makes us a pack. They’re already murderers.” Sean watched as Ben put his hands in the pockets of his jeans.

“Part of me wished we’d run three years ago.”

Three years ago they’d witnessed the first atrocities of their alpha.

“We couldn’t have run, not really,” Ben said.

“Why not? No one was watching us. Both of us were alone. Dad wouldn’t have thought to keep us locked up tight.” Sean stared up at the empty sky. The pain in the side of his face had lessened, but his heart was torn.

“Neither of us can go back and change what happened, Sean.” Ben shrugged. “We can only change what’s going to happen.”

Licking his dry lips, he started walking back toward his home. It was a long way to walk, but he needed the movement to clear his thoughts, stretch his legs, and just deal with everything that was going to happen in the coming days.

The full moon was over a week away. He only hoped his father didn’t go on a killing spree before then. They wouldn’t stand a chance.

But he wouldn’t either. The pack could pledge themselves to you, leaving him vulnerable.

Sean had given himself a week in order to deal with the killing of his father.

“You’re right. There’s no point in thinking about the shit we can’t change.”

“Sean, you’re not going to become your father.”

“I’ve no fear of that.” Sean reached out, cupping Ben’s face. “He doesn’t have anyone while I have you.” Pressing his head against Ben’s, he breathed in the scent of his mate. “I love you, Ben.”

Ben gripped his waist, tightening his fingers into his flesh. “I love you. I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth.”

Staring down at Ben’s thin lips, Sean couldn’t fight the need any longer. Shoving him against the large tree, he slammed his lips down on Ben’s. Taking hold of Ben’s hand, he pressed them above his head, locking them in place with one of his. Not once did he break contact with his lips.

Moaning, he ran his hand down the front of Ben’s body, loving every inch of his hard muscular chest. Ben didn’t fight him, giving Sean his submission, which was exactly what he wanted. He fought his father every step of the way in his life. When it came to his mate, he needed submission.

“I love you,” Sean said, muttering the words against his lips.

Ben spoke the same kind of words to him. He didn’t fight the wolf riding him hard.

“You’ve got to slow down, Sean.
